HOT WHEELS STUDEBAKERS

Hot Wheels has issued a number of Studebaker based models over the years. Typically Hot Wheels cars are 1:64 scale and most castings are issued in several colors and variations. But there are some exceptions. The First Editions "Bullet Nose" from 2005 only appeared in one version as shown below. The very nice 1953 Starlight Coupe Funny Car from the 2000 Hot Wheels Collectables Hot Rods Series is 1:43 scale. The Treasure Hunt Avanti and the 1963 Champ Pickup are both 2011 models.

1963 Champ Pickup

Here is the Hot Wheels Studebaker Champ on a 2011 New Models U.S. long blister card and on a 2011 HW Premiere international short blister card. This model has also been issued in Metallic Aqua.

Treasure Hunt Avanti

A very hard to find Super Treasure Hunt version which is a darker color and has rubber tread "Real Riders" wheels was also issued. This casting was also used in the Hot Wheels Classics Series. Here is the standard issue Treasure Hunts Avanti on a U.S. long blister card and on an international short blister card.

First Editions Torpedos Bullet Nose

The Torpedos Bullet Nose appears to be based on a 1951 Starlight Coupe given that the bullet has three prongs whereas the 1950 bullet has four prongs. The Hot Wheels Torpedos Series featured 10 cars that were more or less shapped like torpedos. Here is the Bullet Nose on its 2005 First Editions blister card.

"At-A-Tude" Starliner Hardtop

The "At-A-Tude" modified 1953/54 Starliner Hardtop has been issued in numerous variations. It first appeared in the 1998 First Editions Series and has since been used in several other series, sets, five packs, and special editions. The version pictured above is from the 2009 Modified Rides Series. Here is a picture of this version in its blister pack featuring nice art work on the card.

"Super Smooth" 1937 Coupe Express

The "Super Smooth" is a custom 1937 Studebaker Coupe Express Pickup with the headlights faired into the fenders and the front and rear bumpers removed. It first appeared in the 2002 First Editions Series and has since appeared in other series including as a 2004 Treasure Hunt car and in special editions. Here is a picture of this model on a First Editions blister card.

1:43 Scale Studebaker Funny Car

Mattel has on occasion issued Hot Wheels 1:43 scale models. To date the only Studebaker made in this larger scale are two variations of the 1953 Starlight Coupe Funny Car. Compared to standard size Hot Wheels, this model was not produced in large numbers and is getting hard to find.
