DINKY TOYS STUDEBAKERS

Dinky Toys first appeared in the mid-1930's and production continued until 1980. Original Dinkys were manufactured in both England and France, with each country producing different models. The Dinky line included British and French cars and trucks, other European vehicles, and a number of American vehicles, mostly cars. Dinky produced a number of Studebaker models, including several different cars and an early 1950's petrol tanker in England, and a 1955 Commander and variations of a Studebaker light truck in France. Dinky Toys are made of diecast metal and are approximately 1:43 scale. They are among the most collectible of Studebaker toys, and were made in fairly large numbers. Dinkys typically came in yellow boxes with a picture of the model on the box. If the model came in more than one color, the box often featured pictures of both colors. More recently, the Dinky name has been revived by Matchbox and new issues, including a very nice 1:43 scale 1958 Studebaker Golden Hawk, have appeared, albeit somewhat sporadically.
